60K For Royal Oak Study Of Police, Fire & EMS

ROYAL OAK (WWJ) - Public safety is one of the most important services that a community can provide. It's also one of the most expensive.  Now, cities are looking at ways to cut costs due to lost revenues from declining property values.

WWJ Newsradio 950's Gary Lundy reports that the city of Royal Oak will spend more than 60,000 dollars on a study that would analyze every aspect of its police, fire and EMS operations.

Every aspect of what those departments do, will be scrutinized. The goal is to find the most efficient ways of providing those services to the city and its residents.

The study will take about six months, and will provide the information needed so the city can give those departments guidance and direction in the future.

The cities of Novi and Troy recently conducted the same studies.
