8 People Hospitalized Following Car Accident

DETROIT (WWJ) - Eight people remain hospitalized this Sunday morning following a traffic accident on Detroit's east side.

Police tell WWJ Newsradio 950 that the accident was caused by a man driving north on Gratiot at Holcomb.  He allegedly crossed the center line and struck a vehicle with two adults inside that was heading southbound on Gratiot.

Five of those injured are children ranging in age from 10 to 16.  Police say the 37-year-old man who caused the accident was intoxicated.

Charges are pending.
