Verizon Wireless Adds Cell Site In Pittsfield Township

Verizon Wireless has activated a new cell site in Pittsfield Township that improves voice and data coverage along US-12 from US-23 to Saline.

The new cell site is equipped with a permanent backup generator for times of emergency.

The company's ongoing network investment in Michigan now totals more than $1.6 billion. Nationally, Verizon Wireless has invested more than $60 billion since it was formed -- $5.7 billion on average every year -- to increase the coverage and capacity of its network and to add new services.

In Michigan, Verizon Wireless has more than 2,100 employees and 64 company-owned retail locations in more than 50 cities.

Overall Verizon Wireless serves 106.3 million total wireless connections, including 89.7 million retail customers.  It is based in Basking Ridge, N.J. and ahs 85,000 employees nationwide. Verizon Wireless is a joint venture of Verizon Communications (NYSE, NASDAQ: VZ) and Vodafone (LSE, NASDAQ: VOD).
