Clark Durant Considering Run For U.S. Senate

LANSING (WWJ) - Yet another Republican challenger for Senator Debbie Stabenow, as Detroit Educator Clark Durant eyes a bid for the U.S. Senate. WWJ Lansing Bureau Chief Tim Skubick has more on the possible addition to the Republican field.

After first saying last winter  that he would not be running for the Republican U.S. Senate nomination, Clark Durant a Detroit educator, now saying that it is highly likely he will be running for the nomination.

"I certainly want to make my decision before Labor Day, but my target date is August 15," said Durant.

Appearing on 'Off The Record' Durant said, "I want to do this", if he gets in he'll join other Republicans, possibly four, who are trying to earn the Republican nomination to run against incumbant (D) U.S. Sen. Debbie Stabenow.

WWJ's Tim Skubick notes that the more Republican candidates running against each other in the primary, the less money the nominee (ostensibly) they will have to run against Sen. Stabenow.

Durant ran for the U.S. Senator seat in 1990 and lost.
