Car Crushes Oakland County Man To Death

SPRINGFIELD TWP. (WWJ) - An Oakland County man has died after a car he was working on fell on him.

The Sheriff's Department says the 53-year-old Springfield Township man had jacked up his 2002 Saab Monday afternoon, removed the front tires and crawled underneath to locate a squeaking noise.

For some reason, the hydraulic bottle jacks failed and the car fell on top of the man, crushing his chest and shoulder.

The man, whose name has not yet been released, was found by his wife and rushed to Genesys Hospital, where he died as a result of his injuries.
