Mike Ilitch Isn't Afraid To Spend Money On The Tigers
The retirement of Red Wings center Kris Draper was expected on Tuesday morning but the fact that Red Wings and Tigers owner Mike Ilitch showed up to show his support was not and the video below is what transpired. After Draper finished with his news conference I grabbed my mic and chased Ilitch hoping to get his thoughts about the Tigers. Stoney and I peppered the owner with questions ranging from trading for a pitcher to the jobs that GM Dave Dombrowski and skipper Jim Leyland are doing. Ilitch did not want to talk about any possible extensions that he might offer Dombrowski and Leyland but he did stress how bad he wants to win the American League Central Division and how anything less, would be an "extreme disappointment." Ilitch also talked about how he is willing to spend money on a possible trade this week if the deal makes sense and how he believes that prospects are meant to be traded because the majority of them don't work out.
