BBC Offers Federal Grant Advice For Defense Firms: Ann Arbor-based BBCetc will offer a workshop to help small businesses get Small Business Innovation Research and Small Business Technology Transfer research grants from the United States Department of Defense on Wednesday, Aug. 3. The event runs from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Southwest Michigan First, 241 E. Michigan Ave. in Kalamazoo. The workshop costs $90 for Michigan-based companies and $170 for those based elsewhere. The Department of Defense pre-released its 2011.3 SBIR solicitation on July 28. Proposals will be accepted between Aug. 29 and Sept. 28. In this Proposal Preparation workshop, BBCetc will provide a brief introduction to the SBIR program, describe in detail the elements of a fundable DoD proposal, compelling commercialization plan and budgetary guidelines. Following the workshop, attendees will have an opportunity to meet one-on-one to discuss specific projects with the BBCetc team. To register online, visit this link.
