Man Killed While Riding Bicycle

ORION TOWNSHIP (WWJ) - Police are investigating an accident that left a 58-year-old Orion man who was riding his bike with fatal injuries.

Police say the man was riding his bicycle on Giddings Road in Orion Township when he was hit by a 2002 Pontiac Grand Am around 5:40 Wednesday evening. The 28-year-old driver, of Clio, told police he never saw the man on his bike.

The bicyclist, who was wearing a helmet, was taken by ambulance to Pontiac Osteopathic Hospital where he died of his injuries.

Alcohol use does not appear to be a factor in the crash. At this time, police are not releasing the names of parties involved.

The crash remains under investigation.
