Ghost Car Sells For $308k

PLYMOUTH (AP) - The bidding was feverish among a standing-room-only crowd Saturday in Plymouth as someone walked away with a unique car...that's completely see-through.

The 1939 Pontiac Deluxe Six "Ghost Car" made of

plastic was sold for $308,000 at an auction at the Inn of St. John's But the buyer remains a mystery.

The car was built by General Motors for the 1939 New York World's Fair.  Afterward, it toured Pontiac dealerships across the U.S. and was displayed at the Smithsonian Institution.

The auction was part of the Concours d'Elegance event.
