Tigers Pick Up Fister And Pauley From Mariners

DETROIT – The Detroit Tigers have confirmed Saturday the club has acquired righthanded pitchers Doug Fister and David Pauley from the Seattle Mariners in exchange for lefthanded pitcher Charlie Furbush, third baseman Francisco Martinez, outfielder Casper Wells and a player to be named later on or before August 20.

Fister, 27, started 21 games for the Mariners this season, posting a 3-12 record and 3.33 ERA (146.0IP/54ER). He fanned 89 batters with Seattle this season, while surrendering 139 hits and issuing 32 walks. Fister is tied for seventh among all American League pitchers with 2.0 walks per nine innings.

In three seasons at the major league level with the Mariners (2009-11), Fister has compiled a 3.81 ERA (378.0IP/160ER) in 60 appearances (59 starts). He is third among all American League pitchers since the start of the 2009 season with 1.88 walks per nine innings.
