Suspect In 90-Year-Old's Abduction Heads To Court

TAYLOR (AP) - A preliminary examination is scheduled for one of three men charged in the abduction of a 90-year-old man from a Detroit-area nursing home.

Prosecutors say Monday's hearing for 50-year-old Darrell Howard of Detroit is to be held in Taylor District Court. Howard is charged with unlawful imprisonment.

Floyd Pickrell suffers from dementia and was reported missing July 19. Surveillance video shows two men lifting him over the wall of Regency Health Care in Taylor. He was held for three days at a hotel in Ypsilanti. Authorities believe Pickrell's abductors were after his money.

Also charged with unlawful imprisonment, conspiracy to commit unlawful imprisonment and two counts each of vulnerable adult abuse are 54-year-old Alfred Khattar and his 25-year-old son, Ted Tomes.
