Girlfriend Of Suspect Charged As Accessory After The Fact In Murder Case

DETROIT (WWJ) - For over one year, the Detroit Police homicide's investigators had been searching for 32-year-old Trumell Turner, wanted for the fatal shootings of Laron Blackeney, 25, and Demetrious Blackeney, 23, both of Detroit.

In May of 2010, Laron and Demetrious were walking down the street at Glenwood and Morang in Detroit and were fatally shot. Both suspects fled the scene.

Detroit police investigated and determined the suspects to be Turner and Williams.

One suspect, 40-year-old Reginald Williams who is the brother of Veronica Williams, and was arrested on July 8, 2010 for two counts of first degree murder.

In June, police arrested Turner at Veronica Williams' home, he was taken custody, and arraigned on two counts of first degree murder, two counts of felony firearms, felon in possession and as an habitual offender.

The Homicide Investigators interviewed the suspect's girlfriend, Veronica Williams, 38, of Warren, numerous times regarding the whereabouts of Turner.  Williams was advised if she attempted to aid or assist Turner for the purpose of concealment, she could be guilty of harboring a felon and could be charged as such.

The girlfriend, Veronica Williams has now been charged with harboring a felon and as an accessory after the fact to a felony.

"Because of the hard work and diligence of the Detroit Police Homicide Investigators, a dangerous felon has been apprehended to face his crime," stated Chief Ralph L. Godbee, Jr.  It's imperative that individuals understand that when they knowingly interfere or hinder a criminal investigation, those persons will be held accountable…and that is the law."

Turner's next court date has been scheduled at August 9th.

Veronica Williams will be arraigned on August 10th.
