Envision Ecorse! Tapping Resident Input On City's Direction

ECORSE (WWJ) - The city of Ecorse is looking for residents who have a stake in the city's future and want to get involved.

A new phase begins in Ecorse's master planning and they say residents are needed for 'Envision Ecorse!'

Betty Woods, a 70-year-old retiree from New Jersey, has lived in Ecorse for only the last three. Still, she's in love with her new city, but knows it has room for improvement.

"My vision really is to see more stores and more people who would like to open up grocery shops and really uplift the city," said Woods. "I don't think Allen Park and Wyandotte should have everything and Ecorse not have anything ... I think with the vision, we can come back."

Woods is one of 15 people serving on an advisory committee for Envision Ecorse!, a master planning effort by the city of Ecorse and the Michigan Municipal League.

The four month project will tap more than 100 community members to identify the city's assests and to map out a master plan for the city.

Meetings are scheduled for:

August 25th from 6 p.m. - 8:30 p.m., at Ecorse High School, 27385 W. Outer Dr.

September 22nd, 6 p.m. -8:30 p.m., at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, 4250 W. Jeffersosn.
