Police Investigate Possible Murder/Suicide In Farmington Hills
FARMINGTON HILLS (WWJ) - Police are investigating an apparent murder - suicide in Farmington Hills.
Police responded to a call for a welfare check at a home on Orion Court Friday night and found a 53-year-old man, Robert Mazzola, and his 52-year-old wife Lisa, dead inside. Both had been shot once in the head.
Farmington Hills detectives say that the case remains under investigation, but appears to be a murder committed by Lisa Mazzola, who then took her own life. A note was attached to her wrist, but police are not releasing the contents of that note.
Police spoke with several witnesses who said the couple was going through a difficult divorce and was in deep financial distress which included a failed business.
The husband had left the home five days earlier but came back for a planned meeting with his wife.
The couple did not have children. Police reported that there was no history of violence at the residence.
