Muslim Woman Claims She Was The Victim Of A Hate Crime

ANN ARBOR (WWJ) - A 21-year-old Muslim woman, claiming that she was the victim of a hate crime as she drove along a street in Ann Arbor over the weekend.

WWJ's Mike Campbell reports that Ann Arbor police will only say that they are looking into a case of an alleged hate crime. And, the FBI isn't commenting on a report from the Council on American Islamic Relations that it has asked them to investigate this case.

Reportedly, a woman was driving in Ann Arbor when she saw a black Dodge Ram pickup pull up next to her and the driver started racially taunting her, saying that her people didn't belong here, that she was a terrorist and her people need to be killed. She said she dialed 911 and when she looked back in her mirror, the guy was actually pointing a gun at her. That's when she says she actually started to get scared. Otherwise, she said it happens all the time because she often is seen wearing her head scarf out in public.

Nobody was hurt in this incident. Police say they are looking into it; they ran the license plate on the car that she gave them and it doesn't match that pickup.
