Kilpatrick Book: Worthy A "Devil" Out To Get Him

DETROIT (WWJ) - In his newly-released book, former Detroit Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick doesn't have nice things to say about the woman who brought him to justice for lying under oath.

In "Surrendered! The Rise, Fall, and Revelation of Kwame Kilpatrick", Kilpatrick refers to Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy a "devil," and says he believes she was out to get him.

But Worthy isn't letting it bug her.

"I don't care about that book. I'm not going to read that book. I'm not going to waste any of my precious time that I have to read it," Worth told WWJ Newsradio 950's Pat Sweeting.

"It's very insignificant to me, so I don't have any opinion on it and will not have an opinion on it," she said.

In the book, Kilpatrick claims Worthy hated him and worked with the media to put him in jail.  "As we progressively learned more about her intent to destroy, it became clear to me that I could not fight this devil with carnal weapons," Kilpatrick wrote. "I was officially fighting a losing battle."

A judge ruled that all profits from Kilpatrick's book go to the city of Detroit, but his attorneys believe it's unconstitutional. Another judge will rule in the next week whether that order will stay.

The book offers the ex-Mayor's point of view on a number of topics, including the scandal that led to his fall from power. It's available on the publisher's website.

A limited number of copies also went on sale at:

God's World - West 7 Mile near Outer Drive in Detroit
Harlem World - Greenfield north of 8 Mile in Oak Park
Truth Bookstore - in Northland Mall
Shrine of the Black Madonna Bookstore - Livernois at the Davison in Detroit
