Bing's Plan To Reshape Detroit Moves Forward

DETROIT (WWJ) - Mayor Dave Bing's plan to improve Detroit communities moves forward.

It's been two weeks since Mayor Bing announced three target communities for his Detroit Works project. He promised action would be taken in 14 days. He updated WWJ on what's been happening. "Teams have been selected for those communities, those neighborhoods. So as soon as I get back I'm able to read what the recommendations are. We will get ready to rock and roll," says Bing. The mayor is just back from vacation.

Bing made the announcement in southwest Detroit, so WWJ's Vickie Thomas went back there to talk to people like Amy Amador who wants action taken on getting rid of dangerous buildings in her community.

"I would tell them that we need better court enforcement in our community. We're a growing community. We have families, seniors, young people moving into the neighborhood," she says.
