‘Identity’ Electronic Music Festival Invades DTE Energy Music Theatre
CLARKSTON (WWJ) - DTE Energy Music Theatre is getting a sense of “Identity” Friday, as an all-electronic music festival by the same name is being held there on three separate stages.
This summer marks the debut of Identity, the first-ever touring electronic-only music festival, which will visit major outdoor amphitheatres throughout North America in August and September and give fans the full electronic music experience.
Among the 25 artists featured at the festival is former Detroiter Paul Blair, known now as DJ White Shadow. He said growing up, he loved to get “beats” at Eastern Market.
“I loved music from like a really young age so when I moved to Detroit it was like, to me Detroit is like the craziest place on earth for music. I get to see a lot of underground resistance parties and a lot of 4-30 West things and kind of stuff when I was a kid down at Eastern Market and the surrounding area,” he said.
Blair is probably best known for producing many songs on Lady Gaga’s current album, and has been busy this past year touring with her. So what’s Gaga like when she’s not wearing a dress made of meat or bubbles?
“She’s exactly the same way. Like I’m saying, the first time I met her I was like oh my gosh, this girl is amazing, she’s hilarious, she is super funny and she’s just fun to hang out with. She’s never not herself,” Blair said.
Other artists slated to perform at the festival include Kaskade, Steve Aoki, Disco Biscuits, Booka Shade, Modeselektor, The Crystal Method, Holy Ghost!, Nero and Datsik.
Identity runs from 1:00 to 11:00 pm. For details, visit idfestival.com.
