Meadow Brook Music Festival Hosts Day Of Musicals
ROCHESTER HILLS (WWJ) – Two shows packed with music take place Saturday at Meadow Brook Music Festival in Rochester Hills.
First, a show for the family featuring songs from Beauty and the Beast, Marry Poppins, Annie and more begins at 2 pm. It’s titled “Family Day on Broadway.”
Then at 8 pm, “100 Years of Broadway” takes the stage with some great moments from shows of the century such as The Phantom of the Opera, CATS, and Jesus Christ Superstar.
Sandra Joseph, a native Detroiter, singer and actress, will star in both Family Day, as well as 100 Years of Broadway.
“A lot of Broadway show tunes that kids will known from Disney musicals and new musicals and it’s something that the whole family can come out and enjoy.”
Joseph, who is known for her big role in the Phantom of the Opera on Broadway in New York, said while performing in the big city is glamorous, there is no place like home.
“It’s my favorite place in the world to perform since I grew up in Detroit and went to Michigan State. So, to me, it beats Broadway, being at home on a stage in Michigan.”
