2 Injured In Rouge Plant Accident

DEARBORN (WWJ) - Two workers at Ford's Dearborn Rouge Plant are suffering from burn injuries after a faulty expansion joint failed - shooting out hot steam.

The incident happened Sunday afternoon inside the paint building. Dearborn Batallion Fire Chief Andrew Lenaghan says his crew rushed to the scene to find the two victims suffering from burn injuries:

"It's under investigation, so we are not sure of the cause, it appears to be accidental injury at this time," said Lenaghan.

"We were there within a couple of minutes, we have a fire station right outside their gate, and he was transported pretty quickly down to (hospital) Receiving," said Lenaghan.

Lenaghan says one of the victims received extensive burns to his chest, the other only minor injuries.
