Detroit Teen Charged In Friend's Fatal Shooting

DETROIT (WWJ) - A Detroit teenager has been charged in the weekend shooting death of a friend. The Wayne County Prosecutors office says 18-year old Marco Germaine Miner allegedly pulled the trigger and fatally shot the victim, who was just 14 years old.

Dontavius Jones was pronounced dead on arrival at the hospital.

The shooting happened late Saturday afternoon at a home on Coplin.

Miner has been charged with numerous felonies, including second degree murder. He is being held without bond ahead of a court appearance set for August 25.

Detroit Police Chief Ralph Godbee says he expects more officers to be on the streets after a 24-hour period packed with gun violence that left six dead and nine wounded around the city.   Along with the teen, those killed included and five men ages 21, 35, 36, 38 and 40.
