GM Gearing Up For The Woodward Dream Cruise

DETROIT (WWJ) - The Woodward Dream Cruise is quickly approaching and General Motors says they have a lot in store. In addition to the vintage cars parading up and down Woodward, some of GM's new models will be shown off to the public.

The automaker's global vice president Chris Perry says these unveilings won't be hard to spot. "You'll see a new Sonic, you'll see a new Malibu. We're introducing a new Camaro next year - the Camaro ZL1, which will be on display. If you're a Camaro fan like I am, it's just a fabulous vehicle. So you have to come out and see that," says Perry.

This is Perry's first Dream Cruise and he says that all car enthusiasts will love what GM's got on tap. "A parade on Thursday led by Jimmie Johnson and Jeff Gordon who are both NASCAR superstars and Volt owners. Guy Fieri will be also helping us kick-off the parade - whose a passionate Camaro owner, a star on Food Network. Friday, at memorial Park we'll have our team from Wixom, they're building Corvette ZR1 engines right there in the park," he says.

General Motors plans to celebrate the event in style. As for Perry, he wants to stroll around in a vintage car from the GM Heritage Center. "I've always been a big Camaro fan so something in the early '60s to mid-'60s would be fantastic, if I could get that," he says.

Learn more about the Camaro during Friday morning's WWJ Newsradio 950's Motown Muscle Breakfast. There, the automaker will reveal the redesigned Camaro.
