Man Dies While Swimming At Marina In Traverse City

TRAVERSE CITY (AP) – Authorities say an 18-year-old man has died while swimming at the Clinch Park Marina in Traverse City.

The Traverse City Record-Eagle reports that Michael Knudsen of Mancelona may have received an electrical shock in the water while swimming Monday with a friend. He went under the water about 7:30 p.m. and didn’t resurface.

The friend reported getting a shock.

Rescuers arrived, and marina employees cut power to the dock. Two firefighters jumped into the water and found Knudsen unresponsive under the dock.

Knudsen was taken to an area hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
