Northwestern And Detroit Collegiate Prep Students Relocating Temporarily
DETROIT (WWJ) - Some Detroit school students will be starting their year in different schools next month because current renovations aren't finished.
Administrators have sent notices to parents that the $10 million in improvements at Northwestern High and Detroit Collegiate Prep High School won't be finished until November. Students will be moved to the former Hutchins at McMichael School to start the year. A bus will take students from Northwestern High to Hutchins each morning.
The relocation is expected to conclude and programs located to their home school during the Thanksgiving holiday break, November 24-27, 2011 to assure the return to the school will not disrupt academics.
The renovations include fire alarms, security and technology throughout the buildings, along with an introduction of two atriums into the interior academic commons surrounded by bright renovated classrooms and laboratories.
