Clarkston Woman Killed In Head-On Crash

INDEPENDENCE TWP. (WWJ) – Police say a 55-year-old Clarkston woman was killed in a two-car crash Tuesday in Oakland County’s Independence Township.

The Oakland County Sheriffs Office said Laurel Fyfe was turning at Sashabaw and Clarkston roads around 10:30 am when her 2004 Nissan was hit head-on by another vehicle.  Investigators said the driver of the other car, who suffered minor injuries, had a green light.

Both drivers were transported to a local hospital, where Fyfe was pronounced deceased by medical staff.

Police believe Fyfe was not wearing a seatbelt. Alcohol does not appear to be a factor in the crash.

This is very sad news. Many people may not know who Laurel was, but have seen her art work. Laurel was a gifted glass artist who’s biggest project was the large glass hall between Terminal A and B at the McNamara Terminal.
She was a work companion and friend who will be missed

I was driving by the two cars that morning, and there were no cops or ambulances yet, and I saw there was a sheriff in the 7/11 right there so i informed him of the crash, but I wish I would’ve done it a little quicker… I didn’t realize how bad it actually was.

thanks you for telling the cop. I know the other driver very well and good samaritans are to be rewarded.

Laurel Fyfe was a remarkable woman in so many respects. She was truly gifted, unique and awesome. May she rest in peace and may her family be at peace, as well.

Please please please wear your seatbelt. I know the other driver who is still in severe pain and anguish. From these blogs she was a wonderful woman and it is a true loss. Two people suffered and no one wins. Please Please please wear your seatbelt and hug a loved one today. One moment in time can change all.
