Police: Man Tried To Stop Truck With His Feet

ROSEVILLE (WWJ) - A 24-year-old Warren man could face jail time after Roseville police say he crashed into four cars while trying to stop his pick-up truck with his feet.

WWJ Newsradio 950 spoke with Deputy Chief James Berlin, who said beginning at around 5:30 p.m., Wednesday, Roseville Police dispatch began receiving numerous calls from citizens saying a man was driving down Groesbeck Highway using his feet to brake his vehicle.

Before officers could stop him, the suspect crashed into two cars at 13 Mile Road, then two more at Utica Road.

Berlin said police initially suspected the man was drunk or on drugs, but tests showed he wasn't.

"Apparently he knew the vehicle didn't have brakes, but he was in a hurry to get home and thought he could make it by acting like Fred Flintstone and stopping the car with his feet," Berlin said.

There were no major injuries.

The man is facing charges for reckless driving and driving on a suspended license. His name was not immediately released.
