Woman Convicted In Pit Bull Attack On Girl

JACKSON (AP) - A woman who authorities say owned one of three pit bulls that mauled a 6-year-old girl last year in Jackson County has been convicted of keeping a dangerous animal that caused serious injury.

A jury on Thursday returned the verdict in the case of 20-year-old Jasmine Bailey.

The Jackson Citizen Patriot reports her boyfriend Brian Nace testified she didn't own one of the dogs, and that he owned all three.

Bailey, however, had signed paperwork in the presence of an animal control officer indicating she was the owner.

Nace was convicted Tuesday of keeping dangerous animals that caused serious injury in the August 2010 dog attack on Tyah Norris in Blackman Township.

Both are scheduled to be sentenced Sept. 22.
