Motorcyclist Killed During High-Speed Police Chase

LOWELL (AP) - A 43-year-old motorcyclist has been killed in a high-speed chase with police in mid-Michigan's Ionia County.

The Grand Rapids Press reports that the motorcyclist lost control in a curve, hit a guard rail and slammed into a utility pole about 3:15 am. Saturday while being pursued by Lowell police.

He was pronounced dead at the scene. The man's name was not released.

Speeds reportedly reached 90 mph during the chase.

The chase started in Lowell, about 16 miles east of Grand Rapids. The crash is under investigation.
