Rochester Hills Man Robbed By Phony Cop

ROCHESTER HILLS (WWJ) - Oakland County Sheriff deputies are looking for a man who posed as a police officer and robbed a man out walking in Rochester Hills.

The victim told investigators he was in the 300 block of Woodside Court near Rochester and Hamlin roads early Sunday morning when a man shouted "Police! Get on the ground," and then pretended to talk into a radio saying, "I have the 215 suspect."

Officials say victim laid down and that's when the suspect took cash and an identification card before running away. The robbery victim was not injured.

Deputies searched the area for about 30 minutes, but didn't find the suspect who is described as a black male wearing a white t-shirt and jeans.

The investigation continues.
