Beaumont Troy Earns Chest Pain Accreditation: Beaumont Hospital Troy has earned accreditation as a chest pain center with percutaneous coronary intervention from the Society of Chest Pain Centers, an international organization focused on improving care for heart patients. The three-year accreditation signifies that Beaumont, Troy has the expertise and commitment to provide high quality chest pain care by meeting or exceeding stringent SCPC criteria that includes coordinating chest pain care with local EMS agencies, assessing, diagnosing and treating patients quickly, effectively treating low-risk patients with no definitive cause for chest pain symptoms, continually improving processes, ensuring staff competence and training, and supporting community outreach programs that educate the public on promptly seeking medical care for chest pain symptoms. Heart attacks are the leading cause of death in the United States, with 600,000 people dying annually of heart disease. More than five million Americans visit hospitals each year with chest pain. Beaumont is Michigan's, and one of the nation's, most experienced providers of heart care. Beaumont's Ernst Cardiovascular Center includes six specialty clinics offering advanced and minimally invasive treatments for heart valve disease, atrial fibrillation, congestive heart failure, aortic aneurysm and dissection, plus preventive screening for adults and high school students.
