Labor Day Weekend Events In Metro Detroit
DETROIT (WWJ) - Looking for a way to spend Labor Day weekend? Lucky for you, several cities in the Metro Detroit area are hosting festivals, events and celebrations. Now, you'll just have to decide which one sounds best for your holiday weekend.

Michigan Peach Festival - Romeo
Thursday through Monday
Take a trip to the Village of Romeo to visit the Michigan Peach Festival. Now in its 80th year, the festival features a variety of vendors and local restaurants selling their most delicious peach dishes. But don't think its all about peaches. The festival also features carnival rides, beers from around the world, a 5K/10K Fun Run, Friday Harley Night, craft fair, the Peach Queen Reception, car show, Las Vegas tent, golf classic, sports tournaments and more. Arts, Beats & Eats - Royal Oak
Friday through Monday
Now in its 14th year, Ford Arts, Beats & Eats returns for its second year in downtown Royal Oak. The festival offers more than 200 performances on ten stages, a highly ranked juried fine arts show, local restaurants with some of the finest cuisine in metro Detroit and international, regional and local attractions. Admission is $3 per person and you'll have to pay $10 or $15 to park, since the city's meters are closed for the weekend. For more details, click here.
International Jazz Festival - Detroit
Friday through Monday
Subtitled "We Bring You the World," the Detroit Jazz Festival celebrates jazz's influence on the world and the world's influence on jazz. Now in its 32nd year, the festival takes place over several city blocks in downtown Detroit – from Hart Plaza to Campus Martius – with five stages and 100 acts over four days. Labor Day Festival - Hamtramck
Saturday through Monday
Celebrate the spirit of Motown at Hamtramck's annual festival of food, fun and family. This historic street festival brings thousands from around Metro Detroit back home with live music, carnival rides, artists and vendors in one of the most diverse and lively neighborhoods in the area. Special events include a canoe race, peirogi eating contest, car show and the Polish Day Parade. Admission is free and you can park within the festival's perimeter. For more details, click here.
Michigan Renaissance Festival - Holly
Saturday through Monday
Take a step back in time at Michigan's Renaissance Festival, which is celebrating The Royal Ale Fest during Labor Day Weekend. Partake in special events such as the clam bake BBQ competition, beer tasting, hot wing eating competition, grape stomp and free vow renewals. While you're there, you can feast on food from the Renaissance era, shop for goods in the marketplace or catch a jousting tournament after tea with the Queen. River Raisin Labor Day BBQ Festival - Monroe
Saturday beginning at 10 a.m.
Join the fun in Downtown Monroe for the 5th anniversary of the River Raisin Labor Day BBQ Festival. The day begins with a walk from Sterling State Park to St. Mary's Park along the River Raisin Heritage Trail, including a stop at the River Raisin Battlefield. Then the fun continues with the annual BBQ, complete with food from local restaurants, live entertainment from local and regional musicians, local artists, activities for the kids, free carriage rides and more. Eid Festival - Dearborn
Sunday 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.
The Dearborn Eid Festival is a cultural, entertaining and educational social event during the annual celebration of Eid al-Fitr, a holiday concluding the Islamic holy month of Ramadan, where Muslims are required to fast daily from dawn until dusk. The Eid Festival features food, games, carnival rides, raffles, sports tournaments, video game tournaments, inflatables, arts and crafts, vendors and more. Admission is $10.
