Plex Sets Webinar On Global Food Safety: Auburn Hills-based Plex Systems Inc., provider of Plex Online food safety management systems, has announced a new Webinar focused on helping food and beverage processors jump-start their food safety initiatives. Free registration is now available for the "Getting Started With Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI)" food Webinar on Wednesday, Sept. 14 from 2 to 3 p.m. Eastern time. Guest speaker Jeff Chilton, founder and president of Chilton Consulting Group, Inc. will discuss the basics of GFSI certification including BRC, SQF and FSSC 22000 scheme selection. Chilton will also deliver an overview of the certification process including GAP analysis, program development, program implementation and the audit certification process. Chilton, who has written more than 30 articles in Meat and Poultry magazine, worked in the food industry for more than 15 years prior to starting CCG. He is also a certified lead instructor for Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP) training, and is recognized as an industry expert in Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI) standards. This is the first in Plex Systems' second series of Webinars focused on educating processors on issues related to food safety management. Its first series of food safety Webinars was conducted in June, July and August of this year. It addressed several issues including the recently enacted Food Safety Modernization Act, importance of traceability systems to manage supply chain process and implementing a robust food safety management system.
