ROYAL OAK (WWJ) – High winds, heavy rain and sweltering heat did not stop hundreds of thousands of people from coming out to the Ford Arts, Beats, and Eats Festival in Royal Oak over Labor Day weekend.

But festival producer Jon Witz said the weather did have a small effect on attendance this year.

“We had very high, hot temperatures on Friday and Saturday, yet still thousands came out,” said Witz. “We were down in attendance the first two days, but managed to catch up to be only 20 percent down for the weekend for a total attendance of 335,000 people.”

Witz said despite lower attendance this year over last, this past weekend’s Arts, Beats and Eats was the third best in 14 years.

As far as crime, Witz said no major incidents were reported at the festival.
