Donate Equipment To "Gloves For Kids" At Comerica Park
DETROIT (WWJ) - The Tigers are looking for new or gently used baseball and softball equipment to donate to children across Michigan.
Bring your gloves, bats and balls to Comerica Park's GATE A tomorrow between 2 p.m. and the end of the second inning. Gear will benefit the Detroit Tigers Foundation "Gloves For Kids" program.
Tigers pitcher Phil Coke said it feels good to give back to the city.
"For us to be able to do everything we can to help try and drum up equipment for kids to being sparking the interest in them, it creates the dynamic for the game to continue," he said.
Coke said especially in these rough economic times, donating equipment will help keep kids in the game that would otherwise not get the chance to play.
"It could be a big part of, you know, the economy being bad. Some families just can't afford to do it," he said.
A game ticket is not necessary to donate items. When you donate equipment, you give a child in southeastern Michigan the opportunity to play the game of baseball.
