Quicken Loans To Hire 500, Host 'Career Fair Like They've Never Seen Before'

DETROIT (WWJ) - Online retail mortgage lender Quicken Loans says it plans to hire 500 new workers, mostly based in Detroit.

The company plans to kick off the hiring effort with a job fair Saturday at its downtown Detroit headquarters.  The event runs from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m.

WWJ Newsradio 950's Bill Stevens spoke with Michelle Salvatore, who is in charge of recruiting.

"It's really a career fair like they've never seen before.  It's not a typical career fair where they're gonna walk up to a booth and hand somebody a resume and have a dry, boring conversation," Salvatore said.

"This is a fun environment. We want to show off who we are as a company and that we're excited to be downtown," she said.

The company wants to hire immediately for several areas including mortgage banking, marketing and technology.

"We've always been very conservative in our hiring and we've experienced a lot of growth this year and decided that this is the time to add some more folks," said Salvatore. "It's a part of being in Detroit. We're very excited to be here."

Quicken Loans is the nation's largest online retail mortgage lender and the 4th largest overall retail home lender.
