"Flintstone" Driver Pleads Not Guilty To Reckless Driving

FAIL! Brakeless driver imitates Fred Flintstone, uses feet to brake and strikes vehicles by agiantman on YouTube

ROSEVILLE (WWJ) - A man called "Fred Flintstone" because he tried to stop his car with his feet pleaded not guilty to reckless driving during a brief hearing Thursday.

Roseville District Court officials said Joseph Gora will get a court appointed attorney. He's due back in court September 29.

Police say 24-year-old Gora was driving home on Groesbeck when brakes in his Chevrolet pickup failed. He allegedly opened his door and dragged his foot on the ground in hopes of stopping.

"Apparently he knew the vehicle didn't have brakes, but he was in a hurry to get home and thought he could make it by acting like Fred Flintstone and stopping the car with his feet," Roseville Police Deputy Chief James Berlin told WWJ.

Gora couldn't stop at a red light at 13 Mile and hit two vehicles. His truck kept going and hit two other cars at Utica Road.

Police previously said Gora was driving on a suspended license. Police initially suspected Gora was drunk or on drugs, but tests showed he was not.

There were no major injuries.
