Jeff Riger: Dominic Raiola Tells Lions Fans To Party Hearty

As a reporter I always enjoy listening to athletes when they actually say what is on their mind.  You see, too many times a question asked can be legitimate and intriguing and should result in an insightful answer. However, it just doesn't work that way.

Athletes are terrified of facing any sort of backlash from a comment about any issue, so instead they just speak in clichés.  All you end up hearing is "one game at a time" blah blah blah blah blah.

So when an athlete actually says something that they truly believe or, God forbid, cracks a joke about anything, it is huge news!  Reporters like myself run back to their stations or papers or write on their blogs the generic "you will never believe what _____________ had to say about ____________"  And after that headline, more times than not that same reporter or writer will rip on the statement by the athlete.  What can you do?

We all want athletes to be honest but when they are, we rag on what they say!  So it should come as no surprise to anyone that Tom Brady uttered a funny message to the fans and is now getting raked over the coals,  and the organization is in "damage control" mode.

Brady said  "yeah start drinking early, get nice and rowdy, it's a 4:15 game they will have plenty of time to get lubed up and cheer for the home team" in regards to Pats fans that will be making their way to Foxboro on Sunday.  Ohh, by the way in case you didn't know, the Patriots are now trying to say that Brady was talking about fans staying hydrated by drinking plenty of water because it will be hot outside.  What a joke!

So I decided to find out what some of the Lions players felt about Brady and his comments.  Props to Dominic Raiola for acting like an actual human being and seeing the total absurdity in this whole situation.  Make sure to watch the entire interview below as Dom has a special message to Lions fans at the very end.
