Search Team Rescues Woman Lost On Walk

PONTIAC (WWJ) - A Pontiac woman is OK but may be a bit embarassed following reports she got lost walking her dogs in a park Thursday night.

The 35-year-old woman was walking her two dogs in Independence Oaks County Park off of Sashabaw Road around 9 p.m. when authorities say she got lost on the trails.

The woman, whose name was not provided to the media, called 911 for help. The sheriff's department responded and, using GPS coordinates, deputies were able to find the area she was in.

The Sheriff's Department said the woman had a flashlight and a whistle, and deputies had her use the whistle to help them find her. A police dog also assisted in the search.

The woman was found near Perry Lake Road at close to 11 p.m. the same night. She was not injured.
