Bonanno kicks off Lawrence Tech lecture series Sept. 20: Engineer Salvatore J. Bonanno, a former Chrysler executive now involved in multiple business enterprises, will be the first speaker in the Entrepreneurial Lecture Series at Lawrence Technological University on Tuesday, Sept. 20, at 5:45 p.m. He earned a degree in mechanical engineering at Lawrence Tech in 1969. Coffee and Krispy Kreme doughnuts will be served immediately after the presentation, expected to run to 6:30 p.m. The event, which is free and open to the public, will be held in Lear Auditorium (T429) of the University Technology and Learning Center at Lawrence Tech, 21000 W. 10 Mile Road, Southfield. Bonanno held many executive-level positions during a 30-year career at Chrysler Corporation, including setting up the Chrysler/Maserati Q-Coupe Operations, in Milan, Italy, and managing divisions with more than 10,000 employees. He was chairman and CEO of Grove Worldwide LLC, a $1 billion industrial equipment manufacturer, and chairman of the board of Xymox Technologies, a manufacturing company that has recovered dramatically after being on the verge of bankruptcy. Since 2009 he has been a board member of American Axle & Manufacturing Co.  In 2000, he formed Bonanno Enterprises LLC, an acquisition and consulting organization specializing in manufacturing companies. Board members and participants include former CEOs, presidents, CFOs, and manufacturing executives. The company provides discretionary capital, interim or transition management, and executive consulting services for industrial operations. In 2003 Bonanno joined the Horizon Capital Fund and is a Horizon Fund III partner and an investor in four PS Capital acquisitions. The next speaker in the Entrepreneurial Lecture Series will be Oct. 18 featuring Alan Hasse, a 1982 Lawrence Tech graduate in electrical engineering, who is president of AGC Aero Space and Defense.
