I Have Seen The Promised Land

Rob Sanford

The Tigers have gotten to the promised land ( a division title) for the first time since 1987. Not like 2006 when they  lost out in the final week end  and got into the post season  being the league's "wild card. In 2006 it was a pleasant surprise to get into the playoffs, while this time around it was expected. I think they have a reasonable chance of getting into the World Series because the Yankees, Rangers, and Red Sox can't match the Bengals pitching staff. I've always been a firm believer that good pitching and fielding will beat good hitting everytime. If Tampa Bay finds a way to sneak in...that's one of the teams I wouldn't want to face. They have the best starting pitching of any of the teams left standing.

Before we even get to the post season, the Tigers still have something to play for....home field through out the playoffs. They would get that advantage by having the best record in the American League. Before you start laughing, they still have an outside shot of overtaking the Yankees. Never the less, I think the Tigers have already proven themselves by soundly beating the 2 other contenders in the final weeks of the season. They have mental toughness to go along with a "killer instinct"....something lacking in the past couple of seasons.
