BIRMINGHAM — Gas Station TV Wednesday announced a business deal with Austin, Texas-based Wayne, the gas station equpment company known as Dresser Wayne before its purchase by GE Energy, to triple the audience for its TV programming broadcast atop gas pumps.
Wayne is making an investment valued at more than $50 million to deploy the new inOvationTV media platform to thousands of fuel retailers across the country. Co-developed with Gas Station TV, the inOvationTV program represents an unprecedented investment and commitment to the gas media space.
“Wayne has long been a leader in technology at the pump and has an extremely strong distribution network, making them the bestpartner to grow our television network to the next level,” said Gas Station TV CEO, David Leider. “The new stations installed from this relationship will quickly increase our already industry-leading viewership and market penetration to more than 70 million monthly at-the-pump consumers, placing us at the very top of Nielsen’s weekly television rankings.”
The inOvationTV platform from Wayne and GSTV is available free of charge to qualified stations and is installed either as a retrofit to stations already installed with Wayne’s industry-leading Ovation dispensers, or available to retailers installing new Ovation dispensers from the factory.
This investment will nearly triple GSTV’s viewership from 27 million people monthly to more than 70 million people monthly, significantly surpassing cinema advertising viewership.
Today GSTV, a Nielsen measured network, delivers top 10 weekly ratings against the key 18-49 demographic. With this increased distribution GSTV will deliver 18-49 weekly ratings surpassing even the most watched shows on television, like American Idol.
Participating fuel retailers will receive GSTV’s exclusive content, including ESPN and AccuWeather, along with promotional announcements produced by GSTV that have been shown to deliver significant increases in returning customers, convenience store sales and fuel sales.
“Our relationship with GSTV represents another step forward in our global strategy to provide fuel retailers worldwide with leading-edge products and technologies that allow them to provide an enhanced experience to their customers,” said Neil Thomas, global president of Wayne. “GSTV clearly has emerged as a leading provider of media at the pump in the U.S. Along with Wayne’s strength as a world-leading supplier of fueling systems, we will be able to serve more fuel retailers in more locations with an exciting new offering.”
In addition to the GSTV programming experience, fuel retailers will receive a number of additional benefits through the program, such as an upgraded payment processing experience via Wayne’s iX Technology Platform.
Wayne and GSTV will exhibit inOvationTV in Wayne’s display at the National Association of Convenience Stores Show Oct. 1-4 in Chicago. To learn more about inOvationTV, visit www.inovationtv.com.
