Man To Be Charged In Wife's Fatal Strangling

SOUTHFIELD (WWJ) - A 38-year-old Southfield man is expected to be charged on Thursday with strangling his wife to death in front of their three children.

Police said Monday night's argument, on Potomac Street near Lahser and 12 Mile, was over money.

Police told WWJ Newsradio 950 the girls, ages 8, 11, and 16, begged their father to stop, trying to pull him off of their mother. But when he finally let go, the 32-year old woman slumped to the floor.

Police said as their father fled the scene, the kids dialed 9-1-1. The man was arrested a short time later in Detroit.

No names have been released prior to Thursday's arraignment.  Stay with WWJ and CBSDetroit.com for the latest.
