36th District Court Judge Found Dead In Detroit

DETROIT (WWJ) - Detroit Police are investigating the death of a 36th District Court judge whose body was found Friday in a house on the city's east side.

Judge George Chatman was found inside a home on Glenwood Street. Detroit Police have been on the scene -- but haven't said if the death is suspicious, or he died of natural causes. The court released a statement saying we "extend our deepest sympathy to his family and friends."

Chatman, a native Detroiter, was appointed to the 36th District Court in 2010.  He was a graduate of Cass Technical High School and received his Bachelor of Science in Education from Wayne State University.

Chatman also attended University of Detroit where he received his Masters in Education and Juris Doctor.
