Lake St. Clair Alive With 2nd Annual Boating And Outdoor Festival
HARRISON TWP. (WWJ) - If you’re searching for something fun to do outside this weekend, look no further than the 2nd Annual Boating and Outdoor Festival on Lake St. Clair at Metro Beach Metropark in Harrison Township.
More than 100 exhibitors and more than 350 boats on-land and in-water will be displayed and for sale. The festival will also feature a large Tiki Bar with live music playing the duration of the show featuring Jimmy Buffet-style, country and rock music.
Michigan Boating Industries Association Spokeswoman Nicki Polan said this is a family friendly event.
“We’ve got a lot of things here for the kids, including the Kid’s Zone, we’ve got nature interpreters, face painting, there’s a fishing simulator where you can simulate pulling in a big fish, Duma the waterskiing dog is going to be a great attraction, Dora the Explorer… there’s just a lot of things for kids to do and just to look at the boat, the kids love it. You just see them pointing at the boats and it’s just wow, it’s a wow factor.”
Polan said this festival is different and a lot bigger than in previous years.
“It’s 25 percent bigger than last year so we have more exhibitors. We have the Ultimate Playground which is a really interactive experience where you can get on an ATV, get on Spyder, get on a Sea-Doo and experience the actual thrill of being on some of these outdoor-type products. More boats in the water, bigger boats in the water. So, if you’ve never been on a 40-foot cruiser, it’s an opportunity to sit on one and explore one.”
The festival is open Sat. 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Sun. 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Admission is $9 per person, and children 12 and under are free with an adult. A Metroparks permit ($5 daily pass) is required to enter the event. For more information, visit www.boatingandoutdoorfest.com.
