Royal Oak Stabbing Suspect Arraigned

ROYAL OAK (WWJ) - The man accused in the stabbing death of a 41-year-old Royal Oak woman has been arraigned on charges of open murder.

Police allege 23-year-old Christopher Hearn of Clinton Township murdered Ranae Ann Chupick in her apartment at the corner of Rochester and Windemere roads.

Police say Hearn is an acquaintance of the victim, and at one time they lived together. In March of 2010, Hearn was arrested in Royal Oak for a domestic violence assault on the victim. Hearn also has two convictions for Home Invasion in Livingston County.

Hearn was arrested just days after co-workers discovered Chupick body when they went to check on her after she failed to show up for work. Investigators say Chupick was attacked and killed inside the unit, although there was no sign of forced entry.

An autopsy determined Chupick died from multiple sharp and blunt force injuries, according to the Oakland County Medical Examiner's Office, who ruled the death a homicide.

Hearn was ordered held without bond.
