Judge Rules On Admissibility Of Evidence In 'Underwear Bomber' Case
DETROIT (WWJ) - A federal judge in Detroit rules on the admissibility of evidence in the case of the alleged underwear bomber.
In ruling on the admissibilty of government evidence in their case against Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab, a 24-year-old Nigerian accused of wearing a bomb inside his underwear on Christmas 2009, a U.S. District court judge told Abdulmutallab that she will allow the presentation of a model of the bomb, that he allegedly tried to use to blow up a Delta flight to Detroit, and will allow video demonstration of how that bomb would have exploded.
U.S. District Judge Nancy Edmunds also did not rule out use of an al-Qaida magazine article instructing readers how to send and receive encrypted messages ... a slip of paper containing the encryption key found in Abdumutallab's shoe.
But the judge did disallow the print materials that she considers prejudicial including video baring the image of Osama bin Laden.
