Police: Teen Stabbed Classmate During Fight
IDA (WWJ) - A 17-year-old Monroe County teen is hospitalized after he was stabbed during a fight with a classmate.
The incident happened Monday night at Ida Firemans Park, when police say the two teens unexpectedly crossed paths and began arguing. The argument escalated to a physical altercation. Police say according to witnesses, the 16-year-old suspect produced a knife after the other subject gained the upper hand in the fight and stabbed the victim in the upper shoulder/neck area, under the arm and in the buttocks with a small pocket knife.
State police say the two teens attend Riverside Academy in Dundee and had been having problems with each other in school over an alleged racial slur said by one of the subjects.
The victim is in stable condition at St. Vincent's Hospital in Toledo. The suspect was taken to the Monroe County Youth Center.
