Detroit Police Investigate Traveling 'Booty Lounge'

DETROIT (WWJ) - Detroit police say they're investigating an alleged "strip club on wheels" after two officers allegedly got too close to the action.

Police Chief Ralph Godbee has launched an investigation into the Booty Lounge, which has been setting up shop at Eastern Market for tailgating during Lions home games.

"What's important to me is, now that it's been brough to my attention, as Chief is what we do about it," Godbee said.

The "strip club on wheels" reportedly offers lap dances and some of the dancers mix-and-mingle outside of the bus, in an environment where children could be present.

Some Detroit police officers could now also be in hot water after photos they took with scantily clad women on the bus appeared on the company's Facebook page.

Mayor Dave Bing said the bus showing up at downtown tailgates is certainly a concern.

"The games are basically for families, and to have something like that going on is not appropriate," said Bing.

Chief Godbee said police are now are looking into whether they can take legal action to stop the bus.

"To find out exactly what enforcement authority we have relative to the operation of the vehicle ... taking the appropriate enforcement action. And then, secondly, making sure that we provide a pristine environment," said Godbee.
