Paul Simon's Fall Tour To Stop At Detroit's Fox Theatre

DETROIT (WWJ) - American songwriter Paul Simon has announced the first part of his fall "So Beautiful or So What" U.S. tour, which will include a stop at Detroit's historic Fox Theatre on Friday, Nov. 18. Tickets go on sale at 10 a.m. Friday, Sept. 30.

The fall dates are a continuation from Simon's earlier "So What or So Beautiful" tour in support of his latest album and most acclaimed release in years, "So Beautiful or So What," which hit the charts at No. 4 in April.

A review of an earlier concert in Chicago by Chicago Tribune critic Greg Kot noted, "In one sense, the two-hour, 24-song performance played like a mini-history of rhythm, spiraling out from the doo-wop of Simon's native New York to West Africa down the coast to Capetown and then out to the Caribbean, into Brazil, Memphis and New Orleans. His band of multi-instrumentalists was versatile enough to keep pace with Simon's game of continental hop-scotch, the singer demonstrating how he synthesized his rhythm journeys into durable pop songs."

Among the more durable pop songs in the set were "The Boy in the Bubble," "50 Ways to Leave Your Lover," "Mother and Child Reunion," "Slip Slidin' Away," "The Sound of Silence," "Kodachrome" and "Hearts and Bones."

Tickets -- which cost $39.50, $59.50, $79.50 and $110 --  can be purchased at OlympiaEntertainment.comLiveNation.com, The Fox Theatre and Joe Louis Arena box offices, Hockeytown Authentics in Troy (without service charge) at all Ticketmaster locations and Ticketmaster.com.
