DETROIT (WWJ) – Good news if you take the Southfield Freeway. Along with its imminent reopening, commuters will have more room to move very soon.
Along one stretch of the Southfield Freeway from Grand River south, crews appear to be in the final stages. The new lights are up and working, and median walls and overpasses are finished. However, drivers are still down to one lane until you get past Warren Avenue.
Depending on progress, all the lanes could be open from I-96 to I-94 in a matter of days, with the rest of the Southfield freeway, from the Lodge to Eight Mile, re-opening in a couple of weeks.
M-39 has been shut down since May in both directions from the Lodge to Grand River as crews worked on the pavement, overpasses, utilities, medians and more.
For the latest from the roads, keep it tuned to WWJ Newsradio 950 for traffic and weather, every 10 minutes on the 8s. - Visit our traffic page -
